キリン 生茶 KIRIN NAMACHA®️
キリンビバレッジの緑茶ブランド「キリン 生茶」のシンボル・パッケージのリニューアルのアートディレクションを担当。近年、競合ブランドの乱立によってイメージの同質化が進んでいた緑茶カテゴリーにおいて、生茶ブランドとして新しい緑茶イメージを再定義するべくリブランディングを行った。
緑茶カテゴリーの商品は、店頭で「緑茶」であることを瞬時に伝達するために、緑をメインカラーとし、商品ロゴを大きく配置するのが定石であった。しかし、リニューアルにあたり、お茶という人々の生活と共にあるプロダクトとして、店頭重視の設計ではなく、その先の購入者の生活に焦点を当てた。現代における新しいお茶の在り方と緑茶の伝達にどのような色調で何の要素が必要なのか、数百に渡るプロトタイプで検証を行った。商品ロゴも前デザインより半分以下のサイズに縮小したが、色彩が賑やかな売り場で白を基調とした静寂な佇まいにより、結果的に際立つデザインとなった。また、ペットボトルも新たにシンプルで洗練された形状に刷新している。環境に配慮したプラスチック使用量削減の取り組みに対応するためには、瓶のような鶴首形状では強度確保が困難という問題も生じたが、試行錯誤を重ねた数ミリ単位の緻密な設計で、デザイン性と必要強度を両立した。
発売数ヶ月で過去のリニューアルを超えるブランドとして最高の売り上げを記録した。
In recent years, the green tea category has seen an increase in competition, leading to a homogenization of brand images. To revitalize the brand image of “Namacha,” I was responsible for the art direction of its rebranding.
Traditionally, green tea products used green as the main color and prominently displayed the product logo to quickly convey that they were green tea at the point of sale. However, with this renewal, we shifted our focus from point-of-sale design to emphasizing the role of tea as a product that is integral to people’s lives. We conducted extensive testing with hundreds of prototypes to determine the appropriate color schemes and elements needed to convey the essence of modern green tea.
The product logo was reduced to less than half its previous size. Despite this, the design, which uses white as the base color to create a serene presence amidst the vibrant colors of store shelves, stands out more effectively. Additionally, the PET bottle was redesigned to have a simple and sophisticated shape. In our efforts to reduce the amount of plastic used and address environmental concerns, we faced challenges in ensuring the strength of the bottle with a design resembling a slender neck. Through meticulous design adjustments down to the millimeter, we successfully balanced aesthetic appeal and necessary strength.
As a result, within a few months of its release, the brand has achieved its highest sales to date.
